10/07/2008suuuuuuuuucks! im just being generous here. i dont know what everyone loves about it. my brother told me supposedly they have good service but the service sucked. we ordered our pho, the soup ok... not that much flavor, i guess the noodles were pretty good. but we had to wait a real long time. 10-15 minutes. and service was horrible. they just kept walking by us. it wasn't even that busy at that time, it was a sunday afternoon maybe 1. and it is really pricey pho. very pricey. i wouldn't recommend this place at all. and the place is dark and dingy, the carpet is so dark u can't even tell whats in it. looks like everyone else had a good experience but me. but for someone who loves pho and been to a ton of pho places, this place defintely ranks in the bottom half.

10/07/2008I've been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was amazing! For lunch they have a buffet with tons of different choices. Because of the "self-service" the actual table service was a lot better for lunch than on the occassion we came for dinner. (It was a Saturday night and they were packed!)
I noticed the food at lunch was milder so if you like it spicy come for dinner instead.
The portions are really big, you'll have leftovers, and they don't shortchange you on the naan at all. I can't speak to the authenticity since I've never been to India, but I know delicious when I taste it!

10/07/2008One Sunday my friend and I were out and about and decided on a whim to go check out some electric cars. Excitedly we went down to Green Motors. Outside there were two other groups of people; four men in their fourties, and a couple in their thirties, all of us professionals. There we all stood, staring longingly through the window, talking about how we would love to check out their cars, and how ridiculous it was they were closed all day Sunday.
There is something flawed with a retail business model where you are closed on the weekend, the time that people who work can actually visit your business. Maybe they figure that people who are "serious" about environmentalism will make the time to do the research about when they are open or make an appointment to check out their cars. I think they could be doing better if they also were capturing the attention of those people who serendipitously decide to drop in on a Sunday.

10/07/2008I just threw out my take out menu from these guys. I'm always up for trying new restaurants that will deliver. But, this experience was not a good one and the food is not good. Really.
I ordered the chef recommendation: portabello mushroom and shrimp with bok choy. It was bland. I was expecting a really nice flavor. Wasn't there. Nope.
I also had a side of rice. I believe the first time in my life when ordering Chinese, I received the rice undercooked and slightly hard. This is what ruined the dinner.
Disappointing.
Bland flavor and hard rice, NO NO NO...
However, I did like: the very nice employee I ordered from, the delivery itself was said to be 30-40 minutes, but was not even 15 minutes! That was nice, b/c I was starving! And finally, the green tea ice cream was full of YUMMMMM...
I won't give them another try. The uncooked rice really doesn't stick well!!

10/07/2008Let me give you a little background story.
My brother owned a Pho restaurant.
We used to love making it.
We loved serving it to all our customers in the restaurant.
It's been an interesting love affair between me and Phó.
It has helped me break ups.
It help console me with the death in the family.
It has been my secret cold fighter.
It's been big part of my favorite food choices for a long time.
I love this place. My friend an older Korean lady introduced me to this place. It's been a love affair once again. I have eaten at other places. But I like the flavor and I keep coming back. This place is relatively clean. I say relatively because I know kitchens (my father is a chef) I know that just a quick wipe doesn't kill all the germs. The chopsticks are clean and the spoons are clean the basil is fresh they grow it on property. The chefs are Vietnamese. I was lucky enough to catch what they were eating for dinner one late night. It happened to be the same soup base that they were serving in the restaurant. If the chef will eat what you are eating and He seemed to be enjoying his family style soup with the other chef. Then it is safe to say that soup is good. Now all this quarrel about MSG. I haven't detected it on my meat or in my soup. I have not had the usual headache from MSG. So I would say low to none in the Pho. I recommend the spring rolls. Both traditional and fried. But I prefer the cold traditional. Price is right in this shrinking economy. So I recommend everyone to head over after work today and get a tummy pleasing bowl. That's where I am headed.

10/07/2008I am giving this place 4 stars because it hosts one of the greatest live shows that I have ever seen. Based of the classic film, starring some of today's most influential stars, Point Break. Your favorite movie presented in a live audience participation format. The show has now moved on to Las Vegas, but I would recommend the venue because they serve beer while you watch a live performance.

10/07/2008I recently took my new puppy for a wellness visit and was very pleased with the service. I went on a Saturday and, despite having an appointment, had to wait @ 25 minutes for the vet. When I asked about the wait, I was told that the 2 appointments before me had become emergencies...which I understand. My puppy was checked by Dr. Ramos who was incredibly nice, explained everything, listened to my questions and took time with the appointment. I didn't feel rushed and was very pleased with the visit. I would recommend Dr. Ramos and VCA to anyone looking for good customer service and people who care about your pets health and happiness.

10/07/2008Let me put it this way. Its a trivia night where people in a decent size group can win, and by win I mean with a name like "No means Yes, and Yes means Anal". Pretty much pick the grossest name you can think of and you could win a bottle of champagne.
As for drinks, food, and bar tenders. A pretty good selection of beer and some pretty mean steak quesidillas. The bar tenders were very assertive and always ready, but I'll be honest. I am still looking for a place that has trivia night, good beer, and hot female staff. :)
try out the trivia night. Its fun. I am looking forward to the Thursday night here too.

10/07/2008Sushi Nazi!
We were kicked out of the restaurant. Ok not that extreme but the chef/owner told us he couldn't service our group of 4 for FORTY minutes cuz he had 3 other tables. Literally the restaurant was only 30% full and he couldn't take us in.
I do want to go back but I think I need to have exclusive rights to the place to get served.
Beware if you're the 8th customer.

10/07/2008Home definitely is deserving of a solid 4 stars, and I'll definitely go again. I love the casual atmosphere without going too Denny's-esque. My boyfriend and I got a table along the booth seat right near the door, which was a perfect seat for pple watching.
I've definitely heard great things about Home, so I had already looked at the menu online prior to our arrival. The menu is enticing with several appetizers, and main dishes that I wanted to try. For a cocktail I had a mojito, but instead of the traditional rum, a berry liquor. Very tasty and refreshing with the mint. I enjoyed it enough to order two during my meal. My boyfriend got the peach tea, which tasted more like a fuzzy navel with a splash of tea. Luckily he enjoyed it and two as well.
Everything came out relatively quickly. For starters we had the spring rolls came out to the table and as quick as they came they were off the plate. Though they didn't look all that, as the filling must have been sauteed till the entire mixture was just one color, the tastes were explosive and the sweet chili sauce for them was a winner!
My pot roast was delish, and I even enjoyed the horseradish cream added a nice kick and I don't usually like horseradish! The meat was tender it broke apart with ease with little to no help of my knife. Portion was generous, and even had to ask my boyfriend help me polish off my dish. Could have used some vegetables on the side...maybe I should have ordered the side of spinach. The bf ordered the hamburger with pepper jack cheese. He asked for it well done and according to him it was charred to perfection.
Couldn't leave without dessert, and the apple tart with brandy flavored ice cream with raisins was phenomenal. Definitely a perfect portion to share. Comes out warm and all just melted in my mouth...mmmmmmm! Would order that again, for sure!!!
Go to home for classic comfort food done with a little pizazz and panache, cause we are after all in San Francisco. We got out of there with full satisfied tummies and it didn't break the bank.

10/07/2008First of all, the only place I know that I can get a 2 for 1 ciggerette pack, tart fro yo with raspberries, new castle brew, tampons, and a cheese stick.. all in one place. I LOVE IT. The people who work there are rad as hell. I love the yogurt, it's perfect for the munchies. You can get your yogurt, and then sit outside for hours just watching hysterical marina moments go down. I love it. Plus, they have all different grades of liquor at reasonable prices. MMM I love this liquor store. But the fro yo is where it's at.

10/07/2008The most excellent experience I've had with a mechanic in the city! I was going out of town for the week, and dropped off my very dirty car because it wasn't starting and needed new brakes. Lester was very professional and fair. He made sure to call me with the price before they did the work, and then did a superb job. I had my roommate pick up my car and I was sad I could not thank him in person. When I got back and saw my car, they had washed it!! I was very impressed. Thank you Lester and team! I will definitely be back and send more business your way.

Updated - 10/07/2008It is ADORABLE... and it is perfect for what it is....
waste a couple seconds while waiting for the N, get some candy. Browse. Buy something goofy... enjoy the cards.
It is like a Hallmark crossed with Spencer Gifts crossed with Giant Robot...
but totally minimal. Might as well hit Tutti Fruitti too, while you are at it.

10/07/2008Stay away, the guys that work here don't know their product, they don't care about their clients, the price is too high, and they're just out to make as much money off you as possible. They recommended the wrong tire in the wrong size for my car but it was the only one they had in stock. I researched the tire mid installation and asked for a switch, their response: "we will charge you for this installation, the uninstall, and the installation of the new tires".
So my car looks like crap and performs like crap and I spent $1,020 out the door to accomplish that, thanks Wheel Works Walnut Creek! Oh and the guy had the nerve to get short with me because I asked him to change to the correct wheels, and hung up abruptly on me. I hope I see him out at the bars so I can give him a piece of my mind.
Also had my brake booster and brake master cylinder done here and they tried to charge me over $600!? I talked them down to $550 out the door which is still a rip off. They charged me $100 for a flush even though they were already doing hundreds of dollars of work. www.repairpal.com, use it!

10/07/2008This is simple... a real, community, photo store. I am excited to go back and talk shop! Anyhoo... really nice, and quick as the dickens. The price was perfect, and I had developed some stranger's photos from burning man two years ago!
WEIRD!
He did tell me they just got a roll from the 70's and it came out "funky, but cool".
That is sweet, yo. Funky but cool... that is what this store is. Good funk... solid.

10/07/2008My favorite little family owned sandwich shop ever! Yummy gyros and the chicken sandwich is great. I highly recommend it for a quick inexpensive lunch fix if you're on the run.

10/07/2008Ike's place is my vegan sandwich dreams come true. I love to order ahead and pick up from this place.
So far my fave sandwich is the "vegan home for thanksgiving add veggie bacon, everything on it" This sandwich will never hurt your feelings. My meat eater friends often sniff this one, and taste it and love it. It has veggie turkey, vegan garlic mayo, soy cheese, whole cranberry sauce, and the regular sandwhich toppings. it is best on a roll or dutch crunch toasted.
I am also a fan of the veggie meatball with BBQ sauce and soy cheese....wow...it is a messy mound of deliciousness.
I am excited to branch out and taste the rest of the delicious offerings....slowly and over time, so i can still look cute in dresses!

10/07/2008WOW!!! My wife went to Dr. Sarkosh yesterday for a regular cleaning. (We have had regular insurance for 12 continuous yrs and have regular cleanings every 6 months.)
We just switched to Delta Dental and went with Dr Sarkosh (Before we read Yelp reviews)
We knew ahead of time we had to pay $5 for the office visit + $20 co-pay for cleaning. When my wife came out she was presented with a bill for $78 ($53 over the expected fee).
My wife's appointment only lasted about 30 minutes as she had a regular cleaning and x-rays.
When we looked at the bill they charged her for "Perio root planing. "
We looked it up and that is a procedure that takes longer, is for people with periodontal disease, and was CERTAINLY not done.
If they in fact did the "Perio root planing"... since it is not part of regular cleaning... How come they did not even mention it before the procedure (Which I stress, they did not do!)
BEWARE AND BE INFORMED!!!! Something smells in that office, and it is not periodontal disease.

10/07/2008I love Dr. Habis. The best things about him are:
1) He's very wired and technologically savvy. He uses an electronic medical record and sends prescriptions electronically. He is also willing to communicate over email.
2) His office is perpetually on time: no 30-45 minute waits until he gets done with another patient.
3) He ACTUALLY takes new patients. I had a really hard time finding someone in Marin that did.
4) He's an internal medicine specialist, which is essentially a general practitioner, but he also has a dual specialty in travel medicine. So if you need that yellow fever shot he's got it right there on hand.
5) He's a really nice guy and a caring and friendly physician.

10/07/2008A few of my friends wanted to try this place. We came here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. About half full and with no reservations we were seated near the back. The servers were nice and attentive. However I'm not sure I would go back for the food. It was ok but no where near spectacular. I had the paella and it tasted off. The best part of my meal was the creme brulee. For a restaurant that looks so nice on the inside they really need food to match. It's no wonder why the restaurant was not packed.

10/07/2008TWO STARS FOR THE EXPERIMENT... but 3 because they seem like fine kids.
3 stars for "meh" or "whatever" as I don't shop for clothes like this.. or in stores like this. My life is so simple. Since I was a kid I have shopped at army navy surplus, timberland, and nordstroms for the sunday best.
done. I seriously don't shop anywhere else. At 6'6", why try? When I was a kid all I could get at the haight shops was a hat or belt, when my friends walked out with endless clothing options.
I had this long snarky review, but simply... they are fickle in buying. They have opted to not buy back clothes that they sold to my friends... same store, no wear on the clothes.. just weird.
Maybe it begs to the wonderful, organic nature and humanizing element to the fashion exchange industry that the idiosynchrasies of each individual human person alters what is bought... that each individual buyer's heart, soul, and past experiences are all brought to the table to make each buyer unique and special in how they choose clothes.
Or they are totally inconsistent and sometimes sort of judgmental. Just sayin'.

10/07/2008You have to check out the monthly "Pug Fest" that happens here the first Sunday of the month from noon to 4! Walking through the park seeing all the people having a picnic, tons of children playing on the beautiful play sculptures and equipment, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we came upon this herd of little pooches that was hilarious! Can you imagine seeing at least 30 pugs of all sizes, shapes and ages just running and romping, having a good ol' time! While the majority are white with black, there were some all black pugs to be seen. Check it out sometime!

10/07/2008I love this place. It's a few doors down from my house, so it's very convenient for me to grab dinner there. It's fast, friendly, and delicious. They have great deals, the bento boxes are rad. The girls who work there are all really pretty and helpful. I'm all about this place. Not too pricy either. It's a bit small inside so I wouldn't advise large groups.. great for take out though.

10/07/2008Vino is a great place in downtown RWC. Other than a bit too much vermouth in the Martini, the food is consistently good. I've had the Calamari Dore several times and think its one of the best dishes on the peninsula. It's a great place to go either before a movie or after as the new theaters are two blocks away. It's also close to the Little Fox.

Would not recommend them!

10/07/2008Fried whole fish! Pozole! Menudo! Good cost-quantity-flavor deal on the combo plates (you know, the kind where the plate is bigger than your first-born child/rottweiler, and cheaper than a frilly drink at your local watering hole). Fancier seafood fare, open till 10pm (I think), nice folks inside, good eats, and close to my homey.
Most excellent...

Updated - 10/07/2008I'm updating the review I had written here prior because, while I couldn't add any more stars to their rating since I already think the world of Peekdadoodle, I had a new experience this afternoon. I'll let the other reviews speak to the fabulous playspace and classes. This review is about the people who own and work at Peekadoodle.
I accidentally locked my daughter in the car as we were loading up to go home today, right outside their doors. (Send me hate mail, please, its the most brainless thing I've done with her in my care, and I can assure you it will never happen again... )
Anyway I ran inside, completely panicked, and they reacted instantly. Paige drove me to my house in her car ,also conveniently located right outside, so I could get my spare key and open the car. Keyla, the owner, stood guard outside the car window, making funny faces to keep the girl calm. Total trapped time=15 minutes. No tears shed- by the little one, anyway :)
I thank my lucky stars I was outside Peekadoodle when this happened. They took care of us unfailingly, not because we pay a nice membership fee or are their "clients" - but because they're exceptional people who do the right thing. People I want to be around, and people I want my daughter to be around.

10/07/2008Great place, friendly staff, free cookies, tea and coffee.
The salon is light and airy, with a calm, but mildly festive atmosphere.
There's usually fun art on the walls, top-notch hair products for sale, and enough stations, waxers and hairdressers for you to get an appt when needed.
