Amasia does do a good bowl. Better than your average soggy noodles in fish broth.

in japantown, there's a noodle house across from benihana. the nishin (sweet fish) is great.

Thanks for the reccomendations, we ended up at Amasia, and though Shoko didn't play the Koto, the baby squid and seaweed  salad more than made up for it.. the Soba were great too.

rent that movie, Tampopo! and then go see if that restaurant with the same name in JapanTown does it any good. I think they spell it, Tanpopo.
