Would anybody be interested in having Yelp events? I think that we all have a common interest and could expand on that with live events. Some themes I can think of are networking, singles, couples, dining, movies and so on.
Thoughts?

i just think that people in DC don't know of yelp. the best way would be to have an enormous kick off party where you bring your friends and invite everybody and random people to join

We'd have to find someone to host it and get Yelp to hand out goodies or something at the door... too bad Yelp doesn't have more promotional materials (at least as far as I'm aware).

Hey guys. I'm in for a yelp event. I'm definitely sure we can get promo stuff. Maybe we can host it at the top rated place on the Yelp list in DC or something. I'm sure the place appreciates the free advertising and maybe they can give us some deals because of that.
Also, Aaron, we should sign up for the Yelp Models Search. We're freakin hot!

I am back to the grind at school so I would not be able to committ much time to arranging the event. However, I everyone can have a little patience, I think we can do something to kick off the summer. We should start now and get in touch with Yelp to get some support.

Yelpers elsewhere do this as a monthly thing, so we can all win. Let's do our first on Thursday, April 20th. Then we'll shoot for another mid-late May too.
Venue? I know Rocky A suggested Ri-Ra, but I'm wondering if we can shoot for something more DC-based for our first event? (Sorry, Rocky. As the newbie to the area, I'm trying to make this metro-easy until I get my car out there... Kinda selfish, I know. But I want to join!)

I know some people expressed that they couldn't attend the Ri-Ra event.. To solve that issue, how about we have a monthly Yelper event so no one misses out. We could have it on the third Thursday (better day of the week for me to socialize) of each month at a different venue for each event. Thoughts???

18th Street is cool on Thursday nights, but I've heard good things about Eye Bar too. Also, I think 18th Street is like $8 a drink or something ridiculous (unless youre from NY or SF). I'm going to try and make it, but I can't commit. I fear commitment.

My experience with Eyebar is that it typically doesn't get going until 11 or 12, but I've only been on weekends. You might want to double check with them on availability because often I'll go and they're either closed or closed for a private party.
It's a trendy, hip place. But Allan is right about the prices - it tends to be Manhattan type prices.
I'll be hoisting a pint or two or three in Dublin. Have fun - see you in May.

What do you Yelpers think of Thursday, May 25th for our next event? The Yelp folks back home are asking about it; they were kind enough to buy us some drinks and send us some goodies last time, so if we have a decent turnout, I'm hoping for more Yelp support. Now that we're asking ahead of time, can I get a few Yes responses ahead of time? And if not, does Wednesday work better for people? I realize it's Memorial Day, so cast your vote now!
